9-1-1 was called to Patete Kitchen and Bath Design Center on the 1100 block of Washington Avenue around 11:30 p.m. after a witness saw smoke coming from the building.

While the company’s vice president Barry Erenrich tells KDKA-TV that they’ll be able to continue to do business, their woodshop is a total loss.

Erenrich added that all of their files necessary to stay operational were saved and that the showroom has some water damage.

Roads around the fire were closed for a time but Glendale Hose Company #1 confirms that Washington Avenue has since reopened.

KDKA-TV also reports that a firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at the scene but was able to return to fighting the fire.

Patete has been operating in the Pittsburgh area for nearly 60 years and their TV and radio advertisements are known for the phrase, “haven’t you waited long enough.”
