Person in Allegheny County Jail dies after overdose

Allegheny County Jail warden Orlando Harper reported Wednesday that a 27-year-old inmate died while incarcerated on a bench warrant.

The inmate had tested positive for fentanyl, methamphetamine and amphetamines and was in detox protocols.

The inmate was found this morning in medical distress and rushed to a local hospital where he died a short time after his arrival.

The case has been turned over the Allegheny County Police for investigation.
