A new message in Etna is grabbing drivers’ attention during National Burger Month.
Two oversized cows are now part of a billboard display near a Burger King off Route 8 in Etna, part of a campaign from PETA promoting plant-based eating.
The ad encourages customers to choose vegan options like the chain’s plant-based Whopper and other meat-free sides.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says the goal is to highlight animal welfare concerns while also promoting healthier eating habits.
The billboard is located next to the Burger King on the 900 block of Butler Street and is expected to remain up through the month of May.
PETA positioned the billboard near Burger King, because they offer a plant-based Whopper.
“Burger King’s vegan options make it easy to order kind meals that are full of flavor and free from animal exploitation,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA encourages everyone to consider who went into that burger and let animals live in peace by simply ordering vegan.”
PETA says that “cows have friends and mourn when a loved one dies or when they’re separated from each other.”
