A Philadelphia man is facing drug charges, accused of taking illegal drugs, like carfentanil and crack cocaine, from that city to Latrobe by way of Amtrak.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Brendaon Fuentes made the cross-state trip to sell the drugs on the street.
Police say they watched him get off the train with two plastic bags.
They searched the pickup truck he rode away in and say he had various paraphernalia and drugs, some of which had been covered with Vicks VapoRub to try and prevent K-9 dogs from detecting them.
“Carfentanil is 100 times stronger than fentanyl; a granule-size of this narcotic – similar to a granule of sand – is powerful enough to kill someone,” District Attorney Ziccarelli said. “By intercepting these lethal drugs, many lives will be saved. I am incredibly thankful for the intensive interdiction work displayed by our law enforcement officers.”
