Pirates' home opener is Friday afternoon at PNC Park and time flies.

25 years ago, Thursday the park opened in 2001.

But, with constant improvements it still feels like new.

Pirates president Travis Williams told Larry Richert about the 2026 new look Bucs and the call up of 19-year-old Konnor Griffin.

“I think the energy and excitement already was there, and then yes, to call up the number one prospect in baseball this year is going to just add to that, so we’re super excited about what’s ahead for this team this season,” said Williams.

There are rumors that Griffin is going to sign a long extension that would keep him here for nearly a decade, but Williams says the team doesn’t talk about contracts in public.

But, Williams added, “we would love to extend Konnor, we know our fans would love that.”

First pitch is at 4:12, and yes, that’s on purpose.

You can hear the game on 93.7 The Fan.
