Pitcairn residents are being warned of a rabies risk in the community.
The Allegheny County Health Department says a bat that was captured near 2nd Street and Center Avenue in the neighborhood on April 20 has tested positive for rabies.
Officials say at least one child was bitten by the creature and at least three others may have handled it.
The child who was bitten was treated at a local hospital.
The bat marks the second animal in the county to test positive for rabies. A racoon tested positive in January.
