Pitcairn man charged with trying to meet up with 'child' for sex

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office has announced charges against a 40-year-old Allegheny County man who allegedly attempted to meet who he believed to be a 12-year-old child for sex.

Authorities say Lane Alan Simpson of Pitcairn, agreed to pay cash for sexual acts with the child, and then went to an agreed-upon location to meet the child, where he was taken into custody.

Agents say Simpson arrived at the location with the cash, condoms, and candy.

He was arraigned and denied bail.

“This defendant had every intention of sexually abusing a pre-teenage child, and I commend the investigators for proactive efforts that removed this predator from the street,” Attorney General Dave Sunday said. “Our Child Predator Section is constantly working to identify predators who lurk in the shadows online.”
