A University of Pittsburgh student was assaulted by a man who somehow had the key to the victim's building and the individual apartment.
Police say 20-year-old Chaz Ramon Corlew Jr. of Mount Oliver faces multiple charges including assault and burglary after allegedly assaulting a Pitt student inside his apartment.
The victim fought back when Corlew attempted to sexually assault and choke him.
A spokesperson for Article Student Living tells KDKA Radio that the person was in possession “of a stolen, inactive fob to our building.”
A master key was not used during the incident.
“As soon as we were made aware of the incident, our staff followed established emergency procedures and worked with local law enforcement,” Communications Manager Celina Aquino tells KDKA Radio. “The authorities have confirmed that there is no active threat inside our community.”
The University of Pittsburgh says the victim is now living in campus housing. Corlew remains in the Allegheny County Jail.
