A local movie theater and its snack bar has been hit with a Consumer Alert by the Allegheny County Health Department.
An inspection of Waterworks Cinema on Freeport Road found an active pest infestation inside the complex.
A report on the county’s website shows evidence for an infestation due to nesting material consisting of chewed materials.
Fresh droppings were found through both the food and non-food areas, as well as on multiple surfaces including table tops in employee and manager’s offices.
Recently dead mice were found behind a movie screen. Older dead mice were found throughout the facility.
Fruit flies are also an issue.
In the snack area, hot dogs were found in plastic containers at 44 degrees toward the top of a cooler. They were thrown away voluntarily.
Foods need to be help at 41 degrees or lower.
In total, there were 11 violations.
A re-inspection is planned for January 5.
