Just days before Christmas, Amazon has announced same-day delivery is now here in Western PA.
In a release, the online retail giant says it’s opened the “first of its kind” same-day facility in Imperial.
The facility will process packages for same-day delivery all around the Greater Pittsburgh area, from Wheeling to New Castle and Steubenville to Greensburg and the Mon Valley.
"This new facility in Imperial represents a significant investment in Western Pennsylvania's economic future, creating more than 100 quality jobs for local residents while leveraging our advanced robotics technology to deliver packages to customers' doorsteps faster than ever before," said Maura Kennedy, Amazon's head of economic development in Pennsylvania. "As Amazon's first Same-Day Delivery site in the region, it's a win-win for the community—driving job creation and economic growth while ensuring Pittsburgh-area customers can get what they need, when they need it, especially during this busy holiday season."
The expansion also means 100 new part-and-full-time jobs in the area.
