Pittsburgh-area Popeyes restaurant ordered closed by Health Department

A Pittsburgh-area Popeyes restaurant has been ordered closed after it was previously under a Consumer Alert.

The Allegheny County Health Department says the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen on William Penn Highway in Wilkins Township was ordered closed due to a roof leak.

The leak was in the walk-in cooler and “above critical food storage areas.”

Water from melting ice was seen dripping into the walk-in cooler above containers of food and covered coleslaw was stored under the leak.

Items were removed from the leaking area and a service call was made, according to an inspection.

The closure appeared on the Health Department’s website this week, but the closure has a posted date of February 13.

Any updates to the closure can be found on the Health Department’s website.
