Pittsburgh-area convenience store with rodent infestation under Consumer Alert

A convenience store in the Pittsburgh area is under Consumer Alert after an inspection.

Cousins Market on Laketon Avenue in Wilkinsburg was hit with the alert after an inspection on Tuesday.

The market was hit with five violations including one considered “high-risk”.

The high-risk violation was due to several mice being observed during the inspection.

One live mouse was found on a glue trap. The mouse was killed by the health inspector and disposed of.

Two decayed mice were found on a glue trap. A bag of cheese curls was found gnawed on and a half-eat cheese curl was also found. Two other packages were found gnawed on.

Fresh rodent droppings were found in a cardboard display and too many to count fresh and old rodent droppings were found in the front of the store, side storage room and other areas.

The Consumer Alert was issued due to the rodent infestation and the store has 10 days to correct the issue or it will be ordered closed.
