UPDATE: The ACHD says all issues have been resolved and is able to reopen.
A local restaurant specializing in breakfast was shut down recently by the Allegheny County Health Department following an inspection.
“The Breakfast Spot” on Brownsville Road was ordered closed on July 3 after 15 total violations were observed.
Of those violations, one was considered “high risk”.
Several items, including cheese, milk, sausage, bacon, watermelon and others were temped at 50 degrees, or higher, in a walk-in cooler.
Food must be held at 41 degrees or lower.
The cooler holding the food had been malfunctioning for the past week with boxes blocking the release of heat from the compressor unit.
The Breakfast Spot says on its Facebook page it will reopen on Tuesday.
But, the Health Department’s website still has the closure active as of 3 p.m. on July 7.
