Pittsburgh City Council passed a Will of Council on Tuesday, calling on Governor Josh Shapiro and the Pennsylvania General Assembly to legalize adult-use cannabis in the current legislative session.
Among other things, Will of Council also called on expunging the records of those convicted of illegal use.
The governor included a call for legalization in his budget address. Efforts to legalize cannabis in Pennsylvania were killed in a Senate committee last year, due in part to opposition to having the product sold in state-run stores.
A Will of Council is a non-binding statement passed by City Council to express an opinion.
