Pittsburgh has announced another organization is making a financial commitment to the city.
The Richard King Mellon Foundation is contributing $1.9 million to the City of Pittsburgh.
$1 million dollars will go towards the city's Learn and Earn program, which gives young people ages 14-23 a chance to have a summer job.
The RK Mellon Foundation's contribution will now allow the program to be year-round for the youth.
“That’s huge, that’s life-changing for some of our kids in the City of Pittsburgh so, very excited, I think that’s a huge win for everyone,” said Mayor Corey O’Connor.
Funds will also be used to redesign Mellon Square storefronts downtown into a new restaurant and for the city's Independence Day celebration.
