A restaurant in Pittsburgh is under Consumer Alert after an inspection found over a dozen violations last week.
Christos Mediterranean Grille on 6th Street in the Business District was hit with the alert after several issues were found during an inspection on November 26.
Three of those violations are considered “high-risk”.
Those violations include an employee seen handing pita bread with their bare hands.
Inspectors say that is a repeat violation.
Drinking cups were found on a shelf in the dining room with wet food debris on it. The dishwasher’s sanitizer container was empty so dishes were washed in a three-bowl sink until sanitizer could be replaced.
Live roaches were found near a hand sink in the kitchen and on the kitchen walls, among other places.
“Large amounts” of mouse droppings were found in the basement an on lower shelving in the kitchen. That is also a repeat violation.
The skeleton of a mouse was found in the basement.
As of Monday morning, the Consumer Alert remains active. Any changes can be seen on the Health Department’s website.
