AAA says gasoline prices in the Pittsburgh area are down seven cents compared to last week.
The average of gas in Western PA is $4.63 a gallon. While down from $4.70 last week, the current price of gas is over $1.20 more expensive a gallon compared to this time last year.
And, gas prices set a record for the September, 50 cents higher compared to the record of $3.83 set in 2023.
Crude oil is back to around $90 a barrel, but the motor club says overall gasoline prices are the highest they've ever been for this time of year.
In neighboring Ohio, the state has suspended its gas tax for 90 days, bringing prices to among the lowest in the country.
Gas is currently selling, on average, for $3.88 a gallon in Ohio.
When in effect, Ohio’s gas tax adds 38.5 cents a gallon.
Gas prices are not expected to go town until the conflict in Iran and with the Strait of Hormuz are resolved.
