Pittsburgh looks to ban evictions during pandemic

Pittsburgh City Council is moving ahead with a bill to ban evictions, in most cases, during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It preliminary approved the bill Wednesday proposed by Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto.

He said they've been checking closely will legal resources to make sure the bill is legally sound.

"We're supportive of providing that safety net during this pandemic, however we also want to make sure that what we're doing will be able to stand the test of law."

A final vote on the eviction bill is expected on Tuesday.
