Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto was one of several speakers at a national event commemorating the United States' official rejoining of the Paris climate accord Friday.

The mayor was the final speaker at America is All In, which virtually brought several leaders together. In a short, pre-recorded video, Peduto commended national leaders for rejoining the agreement.

"Today, the United States has returned to the international Paris climate agreement, and that is good news for Pittsburgh," the mayor said to wrap the event.

President Joe Biden signed an executive order on his first day in office reversing the country's pullout from the agreement ordered by former President Donald Trump.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz criticized the move, referencing Pittsburgh in a manner similar to the way Trump had done in 2017.

Peduto, at the time, reacted with the tweet "Here we go again."

In January, Peduto officially announced his plan to seek a third term as mayor of the steel city.
