A group from Pittsburgh Mercy Intellectual Development Disabilities Services honored veterans and decorated graves Wednesday.

Allegheny Cemetery in Lawrenceville was decorated with hundreds of newly staked American flags for Memorial Day all thanks to volunteers from Pittsburgh Mercy, an organization that serves more than 700 adults who have intellectual disabilities.

Jarret Criss, a supervisor at Wexford Adult Training Facility, say this type of volunteer effort is to show that anyone can do anything.

“No matter whether we utilize a wheelchair, a walker, we have a developmental disability, intellectual disability, we can be an important part of this community,” said Criss.

The group has volunteered for this important community service activity for nearly a decade.
