It's called Da Kave, and now it's been padlocked.
The District Attorney's Nuisance Bar Task Force and Liquor Control Enforcement officers and Pittsburgh Police all participating in the closure of the business in the city's Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
Prosecutors say it has been operating as an unlicensed speakeasy and has been involved in a number of violent, criminal incidents ranging from gunshots being fired to sexual assault.
“After a long, concerning timeline of events, it is in the best interests of the community to cease the operations of this establishment,” said DA Stephen Zappala. “It’s a very serious decision; however, the safety and security of neighbors, as well as the patrons and employees of the business, is our top priority.”
