UPDATE: The suspect in a deadly shooting at a Robinson motel is reported to be in critical condition, after a shootout with police Pittsburgh's East Hills neighborhood.
Allegheny County Superintendent Christopher Kearns said it began around 1 pm when a man allegedly shot his girlfriend and then shot and killed the motel manager of the Pittsburgh Motel on Steubenville Pike in Robinson Township.
The suspect then fled and Pittsburgh and Allegheny detectives saw the U-Haul wanted in connection with the case on the 22 hundred block of Wilner Drive.
“Those detectives along with a detective from the homicide section approached the4 van at 2:29, the suspect stepped out of the van, began firing at the detectives, the detectives returned fire,” said Kearns. “The suspect was struck by gunfire and one of the city detectives was also wounded.”
The suspect is in critical condition, the officer is in stable. The suspect is facing homicide and other charges. The County police officer involved in the shooting is on administrative leave and state police will now lead the investigation into what happened.
According to reports two shootings in Allegheny County Friday afternoon are believed to be connected.
According to multiple reports, an officer was shot in the lower extremities during an incident in the East Hills of Pittsburgh this afternoon.
KDKA Radio’s Colin Dunlap reports it’s a narcotics detective and they are expected to be okay.
The shooting happened in the 2200 block of Wilner Drive.
Police shot the homicide suspect. They are believed to be responsible for an earlier shooting about an hour earlier at the Pittsburgh Motel on Steubenville Pike.
Allegheny County Police were called to assist in that shooting.
