Pittsburgh pizza shop that closed in February reopens

A longtime pizzeria that closed down earlier this year is open against again, with new owners.

Vento's Pizza closed nearly a year ago in February when "Big" Al Vento retired.


Several people began posting on social media, saying that the home of "Franco's Italian Army" had reopened.

The Tribune Review reports two former of Pizza Fiesta in Downtown and Bloomfield are now running Vento's.

The Trib says they sold their shares of Pizza Fiesta to take over Vento's.

The owners, Mederbek Toktosunov and Aigul Kubatbekova, say it will continue to be a family restaurant.

The menu of pizza, hoagies, Stromboli, appetizers and may of the same menu items are once again available.

Vento's was open for nearly 70 years before closing this past February. Now, a new generation can enjoy a Pittsburgh pizza staple.
