Pittsburgh Police are warning the public as Hyundai and Kia vehicles continue to be targeted by thieves.
The thieves, particularly young people, target the models due to a previous security issue that allows them to easily break in and take off with the vehicle.
Police say they took reports over the weekend of eight break-ins and attempts on Hyundai and Kia cars in the Brookline area.
Pittsburgh Police remind residents to always lock the doors to their vehicle, park in a well-lit space when possible and make sure your Hyundai or Kia is updated with the latest security software.
They also suggest using a wheel lock on the steering wheel.
Any suspicious activity should be reported to police.
Hyundai and Kia models have been targeted over the past several years.
