Primanti Brothers is closing two more restaurants, both located in the Pittsburgh area.

The Monroeville and North Versailles locations, which opened in 2000 and 2007, respectively, are now permanently closed.

In a statement to KDKA Radio, Primanti Bros. CEO Gerald Pulsinelli say the closures “is not a decision that we take lightly.”

“After joining Primanti Bros. in January of 2025 - we’ve focused on evaluating our operations and our business to ensure we’re set up to remain a strong partner of the Pittsburgh community for the future,” added Pulsinelli.

While both locations will no longer be Primanti Bros., Pulsinelli says they’ve worked to find new restaurants for each space.

“The Monroeville location will be opening as a Thorn Hill Tap-House and the North Versailles location will become Smash Pub, a sister restaurant to The Smash Shack on Pittsburgh’s North Side,” said Pulsinelli.

Last year, Primanti’s close its location on Penn Avenue in Garfield and earlier this year, locations in Camp Hill and Lancaster closed.

No reason was given for the closures. Primanti Bros. is headquartered on the South Side.

While three locations have closed in the Pittsburgh area, Pulsinelli says that they’ve opened five local locations since 2021.

“We remain committed to continuing the Primanti story for years to come across Pittsburgh and the region,” said Pulsinelli.
