A grocery store in the Pittsburgh area has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department after an inspection on Tuesday.
An inspection shows Yard and Abroad Caribbean Grocery on Park Avenue in Wilkinsburg was hit with nearly 10 violations during the inspection.
Three of those violations are considered high-risk.
The high-risk violations include food products for sale that come from an unknown source.
Inspectors found some products “containing sea moss” found in a cooler. Also, unmarked packages of raw meat were found in a freeze and unmarked package of cheese were found in the cooler.
Raw chicken was found in a Coke cooler temped at 47 degrees. The proper cold-holding temperature is 41 degrees or lower.
That chicken was thrown away.
Inspectors also found raw meat products that were being sold “unpackaged in the upright cooler and freezer for customer self-service.”
Marked a medium risk, files were found inside the store.
