Pittsburgh Chinese restaurant closed after several 'high-risk' violations

A restaurant in Pittsburgh has been ordered closed following a health inspection last week.

Sichuan Palace on Federal Drive in Penn Hills was hit with 14 total violations, including three considered “high-risk”.

The high-risk violations include the Allegheny County Health Department inspector observing employees eating on a prep table and saw other “having barehand contact with ready to eat foods.”

They also did not see any handwashing take place during the entire inspection.

Other issues include raw chicken in a cooler temped at 50 degrees and egg rolls in a mini fridge temped from 46-48. Food must be held at 41 degrees or lower to be considered safe.

The restaurant also has an “imminent hazard” with a grease trap overflow.

Other issues include “inadequate plumbing fixtures” and the restaurant operating without a valid Health Department permit.

A message on the restaurant's answering machine says they are closed as they replace some equipment.

Any updates when the closure is lifted will be posted on the Health Department's website.
