Pittsburgh restaurant with roach infestation under Consumer Alert

A restaurant in Shadyside is under a Consumer Alert after an inspection.

The Allegheny County Health Department says Kung Fu Chicken on Bellefonte Street was hit with 11 violations including two considered “high-risk”.

Those high-risk violations include food found that was “found adulterated by pests.”

A live roach was found in a flour container that is used to bread meat for frying.

Roaches were also found in multiple areas of the kitchen along with roach droppings on dished stored on shelves under a prep table.

Other violations include “improper cooling procedures”, not dating food properly, dishwashing machine not sanitizing, dirty equipment and more.

Inspectors say a follow-up inspection will occur 10 days from Thursday, November 13, when the inspection first happened.

Kung Fu Chicken has seven issues it needs to resolve before reinspection or it will be ordered to closed.
