Protesters are expected outside Pittsburgh Public Schools Tuesday evening ahead of a hearing on proposed school closures.
412 Justice and several other groups plan to rally outside the administration building in Oakland in opposition to the district’s proposed closure plan.
A public hearing is set as Pittsburgh Public Schools considers a controversial facilities overhaul that would close nine school buildings.
The proposal includes shutting down seven schools at the end of next school year, with Spring Hill and Morrow expected to close after renovations at Northview are completed.
The district also plans to reconfigure several schools and phase out most elementary magnet programs.
The rally starts at 5 p.m., the hearing happens at 6 p.m.
The school board is expected to take a final vote Wednesday evening.
