After 13 years of serving up soul food and community on Pittsburgh’s North Side, Carmi Express is closing its doors.
Carmi Express has announced on Facebook that it will end daily operations after Friday, December 12, but the restaurant isn’t disappearing completely.
Chef Carleen says Carmi will continue to serve Pittsburgh through catering, private events, and special pop-ups.
In a heartfelt message, she thanked the city for 13 years of support, laughter, and shared meals.
“We want to thank Pittsburgh for supporting us, loving us, celebrating us, and standing by us through growth, loss, triumph, and transition. You made Carmi what it is, and we are forever grateful,” said Chef Carleen.
From live jazz in the dining room to the takeout kitchen keeping soul food alive, Carmi Express has left a lasting mark on the community, one plate, one celebration, and one memory at a time.
