Pittsburgh has begun the process of welcoming some of the refugees from Afghanistan.
"Pittsburgh actually has an Afghan-American community, so this is a great place to resettle them," said Jennifer Brick Murtazashvili, former adviser to the Department of Defense and United Nations, now with the University of Pittsburgh Center for Governance and Markets. "An incredible group of students, a group pf volunteers at the graduate school for public and international affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, who have really stepped up and are trying to help people who are so desperate."
She says they're trying to respond to well over a thousand requests.
