As if you needed another sign that summer has come to an end, Friday is the last day the sun will set at 7 p.m. or later.
The sun sets at exactly 7 p.m. in Western Pennsylvania on October 2.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says the sun will continue to set 2.5 minutes of daylight every day through October.
By October 31, the sun will be setting around 6:15 p.m., then the day after, we turn our clocks back.
That means the sun will set around 5:15 p.m. beginning November 1.
If you’re an early bird, you’ll have more daylight in the morning.
A bill to make Daylight Saving Time last all year long is currently in the Senate, but its fate is currently unknown.
While Daylight Saving Time all year long would mean a later sunset, sunrise wouldn’t be until after 8 a.m. or later, meaning kids would be waiting for the bus in darkness during cold winter months.
After Friday, the sun won’t set again after 7 p.m. until mid-March.
