Pittsburgh Walk of Fame inaugural class revealed!

The first ten names for the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame have been released.

Legends from Pittsburgh’s history were made public on Monday morning.

The inaugural inductees include:

Jazz great George Benson
Journalist Nellie Bly 
Industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie
Environmentalist and writer Rachel Carson
Pirates legend Roberto Clemente
Actor Michael Keaton
Children’s television host Fred Rogers
Developer of the polio vaccine Dr. Jonas Salk
Pop artist Andy Warhol
Playwright August Wilson

Their names will be featured on large bronze stars in the sidewalk at the Strip District Terminal on Smallman Street.

Each star will be accompanied by a narrative plaque that briefly describes the honoree’s key achievements and ties to the Pittsburgh region.

Michael Keaton is scheduled to appear at the ribbon-cutting and induction ceremony, which will take place October 20.
