With temperatures and humidity levels soaring Thursday, Allegheny County has issued a Code Red Heat Advisory for today.
That means The Department of Human Services and partner agencies will check on older adults, including outreach by home-delivered meal drivers and caregivers.
Senior Centers will also be available as cooling centers for seniors.
The move comes as the County uses the Heat Risk tool developed by the National Weather Service and Centers for Disease Control.
The heat and humidity could mean dangerous health risks for people who don't have adequate cooling or hydration.
