One of Pittsburgh’s winery spots has announced its impending closure.
The Original Pittsburgh Winery on Penn Avenue in the Strip District has announced it will close for good on Saturday, August 15, “a fate too many independent music venues across the country are currently contending with.”
Separate from the City Winery on Smallman Street, the Pittsburgh Winery started at a temporary location in 2019 before a pandemic snag delayed the opening of its currently location in October 2023.
The Pittsburgh Winery gets its grapes from sources in California and Chile to make high-quality wine in the heart of Pittsburgh.
In addition to its homemade wines, Pittsburgh Winery offers a variety of stage shows throughout the week.
Before the impending closure, Pittsburgh Winery is asking for fans and customers to visit one more time.
“We humbly ask one more favor: please come in for a farewell visit and help us empty the bottles, kegs and coolers! Get your tickets to one or more of these final shows listed here at pghwinery.com.”
The owners also ask that the community uses their closing as a “call to action to do everything you can to support your local independent music venues, especially those that support and host local music.”
