Plum Council officials have unanimously agreed to host representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to evaluate educational options for controlling the borough's rampant deer population.
This preliminary step aims to replicate a strategy used by neighboring Oakmont leaders to study what wildlife management measures have successfully worked in other local municipalities.
While the council is currently focused strictly on gathering information, potential long-term solutions under consideration include banning the feeding of deer or establishing a structured deer culling program.
