Man last seen in 'ultralight aircraft' in Indiana Co. found dead

UPDATE: State Troopers says David Wittmer of Altoona was found dead less than a mile from where his ultralight aircraft took off Wednesday evening.

The State Police Aviation Patrol Unit located Wittmer’s aircraft crashed in a cornfield along Coal Run Road in Young Township around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Wittmer was located and found deceased.
Foul play is not suspected. 

Pennsylvania State Troopers are searching for a missing pilot in Indiana County.

Police say 75-year-old David Wittmer took off in his ultralight aircraft Wednesday night from a field near Church Street in Young Township, but failed to return.

Investigators believe Wittmer and his aircraft are likely to be found within in a two to six-mile radius of the field.

Wittmer is described as a white male, 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

His truck was found in the field along with a cell phone inside a nearby camper he was using.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately contact 911.
