Citizen police review board in Washington County gains momentum

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - A citizens police review board is in the works for Washington County.

"We are not going to wait for something terrible to happen here, we're trying to be proactive," said Andrew Goudy, President of the NAACP, Washington County Branch, during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Monday.

The review board would consist of seven Washington County residents.

The mayor of Washington and president of the FOP, as well as Goudy, will meet within the next several weeks to discuss what needs to be done to establish the review board.

"The main concern of the FOP president is that he wants some of the language changed in the current ordinance," Goudy said.

The review board would have the power to subpoena some of the performance-evaluation data and personal information about the police that would not necessarily pertain to the case.
