The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is getting the word out about a well-known phone scam.
A caller posing as a deputy, using the sheriff's caller ID, is telling residents they have missed a hearing, jury duty or have a warrant.
Then the person is told to take some money to a Coinstar location and deposit it into an account.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says it will never ask for money.
