A popular brewery and grill is expanding in the area.
Tap It! is opening a location in Acme, PA, right near Donegal and just minutes from the PA Turnpike on Thursday at 7:30 a.m.
It’s the second Tap It! location. The original location is in Norvelt, Mount Pleasant Township right near the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds. That location opened in 2021.
Shane Hissem who owns the restaurants with his wife, says the man who owns the space enjoyed his visit so much, he offered to lease the space in Acme to them.
The newest location in Acme is on Route 31 right before the Turnpike toward Seven Springs and Hidden Valley.
They brew their own beer at the Norvelt location. Hissem says their “Against the Wind” light lager is always on tap. He also has a hard time keeping up with demand for IPAs.

They have several varieties of beers that rotate along with a “guest tap” that features another local brewery.
But beer is only part of the attraction.
Hissem says they’re so popular because all of the food they make is done in house.
“Our corned beef for our Reuben and our breakfast corned beef hash, we buy that in as a fresh loin and we braise it down, there’s no lunch meat here,” said Hissem.
Other popular menu items include homemade cheesesteaks and hand rolled eggrolls along with fresh-ground steak burgers and several varieties of homemade soup.
Hissem says their soups are so popular, they offer “soup flights” that feature three different types of soup.
Breakfast (till 11 a.m.), lunch and dinner will be served six days at week at the Acme location. They’re closed on Wednesdays.
