Popular restaurant in Robinson Township hit with Consumer Alert

Thai Foon was in the middle of an immigration raid this past summer

A popular restaurant in Robinson Township that was in the news earlier this year after immigrations raids has been placed under a Consumer Alert by the Allegheny County Health Department.

Thai Foon at Settlers Ridge was hit with 18 health violations after an inspection on Monday.

An inspection report shows four of those violations were considered “high-risk.

Those high-risk violations include an inspector observing an employee using their phone, touching their face and then returning to work on food without washing their hands or changing gloves. The phone was seen on a food prep counter as well.

Also observed, old food debris was found on a can opener blade, deli slicer blade and wire ladles. “Mold-like” material was found on an ice chute and around server dispensers at a soda machine.

Bus buns, lids used to cover raw chicken and lids and seals of four of the five present rice cookers were dirty.

An employee was seen portioning noodles, using a dish machine drain board as a food prep table.

Cans in a dry storage area were seen with dents at the seams.

The Health Department says a re-inspection is rescheduled 10 days from September 29.

The inspection report and any changes to the Consumer Alert can be seen on the Health Department’s website.

Thai Foon was closed for a couple of weeks back in June after immigration officers showed up to the location

In a statement released at the time, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it was arresting people who illegally re-enter the country after being removed.
