Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and the emergence of the Omicron variant, the Port Authority of Allegheny County is asking travelers to remain patient and allow for more time when taking Port Authority transportation.
According to Port Authority officials, the lack of operators is causing delays and longer-than-normal wait times throughout the system.
This is expected to continue until COVID-19 rates subside in Allegheny County.
In December, 84 employees of the Port Authority tested positive for COVID-19, and 28 employees tested positive since January 1. A seventh employee, who operated a bus for five years, passed away on Saturday.
Any rider that has a trip impacted by delays is encouraged to contact Port Authority Customer Service at 412-442-2000, on Twitter at @pghtransitcare or via live chat at www.portauthority.org.
