The Port Authority of Allegheny County is spending $28 million on new buses.
The first of 54 new so-called clean diesel buses are arriving this week.
The 40-foot long Gillig buses have 29 inch digital screens showing rider information, non-fabric seats which the Authority says are easier to clean, and sapphire interior lights to reduce glare.
At $518,000 each, the buses come equipped with 19 USB ports for riders to recharge.
The Port Authority says the buses were paid for with a combination of federal, state and local money.
