The Port Authority of Allegheny County is set to begin a three-month pilot to test its smartphone payment system.
The free app called "Ready2Ride" will allow riders to purchase fare payment products from their mobile device.
The pilot will begin in early February with select riders. The Port Authority website states that 300 people will be chosen to take part in the program.
To apply to participate in the mobile ticketing pilot, riders should visit portauthority.org/mobilepilot.
