Contract talks are set to resume Monday between the unions representing striking workers and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Zack Tanner, president of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh says they're returning to the bargaining table in good faith,
"There's a definite vibe in the area amongst the striking workers that we could get to the table on Monday and start having productive conversations to get back to work."
He hopes the publisher will take steps towards meeting the union's demands,
"Which is to restore our previously bargained collective bargaining agreement, which expired back in 2017. [To] lift the unilaterally imposed working conditions that they opposed in July of 2020, after three and a half years of unsuccessful bargaining, and agree in good faith to get back to the bargaining a successor CBA."
Among other things, the union is calling for the restoration of the health insurance plan they lost at the beginning of October.
The union says if talks don't go well, they'll ask supporters to show up next week at the wedding reception for the paper's publisher.
