Pittsburgh Public School officials are working to set up counseling and support services for students after the death of Kruz Amir Baker.
He had been rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the head last weekend.
Pittsburgh police say a 9-year-old and the 7-year-old had found a gun when it accidentally went off.
PPS released a statement of sorrow saying "Our hearts are with Kruz's family, friends, and the Pittsburgh Manchester school community during this incredibly difficult time."
Kruz was a first-grade student and PPS says his favorite class was gym and he "recently shared a wonderful day with his friends at the schools' math fair."
