Magistrate Judge Xander Orenstein has been pulled from arraignment hearings, per a report.
KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin and KDKA Radio's newsroom reports the judge, who has faced scrutiny for releasing suspects on non-cash bond, has been removed from arraignment court.
Griffin says they are still able to oversee criminal, traffic and housing (non-traffic) cases.
A court spokesperson tells KDKA Radio, "Judge Susan Evashavik DiLucente has removed District Judge Orenstein from hearing all arraignments for an indefinite period of time, effective immediately."
The President Judge, Susan Evashavik DiLucente, ordered the court administration to remove Orenstein from arraignments until further notice beginning this week.
Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala and County Sheriff Kevin Kraus has expressed their frustrations with Orenstein in the past.
The decision follows the no cash bail release of Hermas Craddock. He was arrested and charged with several crimes after a high-speed chase on Route 28. Craddock was a no show in court on Monday.
