As the temperatures warm up, we start seeing the springtime allergies and not just in humans, but in our pets as well.
There is also some optimism that the tick population will be diminished this season.
Dr. Mike Hutchinson of Animal General in Cranberry Township was Larry Richert’s guest on the Big K Morning Show.
He says one supplement will protect your dog from allergies and do so much more.
“Get them on Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil, because it helps their skin, helps decrease shedding, it’s great for their brain, their heart, their intestines, their joints, their bladder,” said Dr. Mike. “It’s very, very good for them.”
When it comes to ticks, Dr. Mike says, “it’s warming up, but it was a good winter for killing tickets, I think we’re going to see less, but we have to give it another month or so before I can confirm that.”
Pet owners should consult with their veterinarian for information on medications to control ticks.
