A local, volunteer animal rescue is asking for help as they deal with two extreme cases of animal neglect.

A 6-month-old female puppy named “Christy” by her rescuers was found on Tuesday by a good Samaritan. She was picked up by Sable Kennel in McKeesport and then put in the care of Cross Your Paws Rescue, based in Greensburg.

Dawn Weichler, with Sable Kennel, tells KDKA Radio Christy is “extremely emaciated, she’s a 1 one a scale of 1-10.” She also had damaged gums and a high fever.

She also has mange, is blind in one eye and has a sore on her leg.

To make things worse, Weichler says it’s the second time in two days they had to rescue abandoned/neglected puppies.

A tote of six puppies about 8 to 12 weeks old was found in Duquesne. All were emaciated when rescued.

“These awful owners are exhausting animal control and the rescues,” Weichler says.
