The disappearance of a Pitt student on a spring break trip to the Dominican Republic is under investigation, and raising fears that she may have died.
20-year-old Sudiksha Konanki, an Indian national, whose family is living in suburban Washington DC, was last seen in the early morning hours on a Punta Cana beach on Thursday morning.
Reports say she was with a man who had been questioned by investigators about her disappearance.
But now officials tell ABC News that they believe she drowned after being swept away by a big wave.
The sheriff's office in Chantilly Virginia, however, tells the Post-Gazette that there's no evidence to support that conclusion.
Pitt is apparently is apparently in contact with her family.
